New York City (Days 4- 5)

On Day 4, I walked around Manhattan for about 3 hours. Then I went to the Museum of Modern Art.
Buildings!

Cool Looking Building

This is the Ed Sullivan Theater

This is live art at the Museum of Modern Art. She just sits there all day and people stand in line and talk to her one at a time. I think the point of the piece is to show that people are stupid enough, to watch from a distance, someone talking to another person.

On Day 5 I went to Prospect Park in Brooklyn, and the Prospect Park Zoo. It's a really really really small zoo and they still charge you to get in! We have it good.
Snake.

They had barn animals at the zoo. And fake cows that you could milk. Definitely in a different city.

Llama. Song

Tunnel that takes you into the  park

A big round about in Prospect Park.

Cool looking relief sculpture.

My first slice of New York Pizza. From Joey's Pizza.

New York City (Days 1 - 3)

I am currently in New York City where I have an internship with MTV!!! That doesn't start until Tuesday, so I've been exploring the city with my dad. Here are some pics from our adventures.

This is Times Square (where I will be working)

These are tall buildings

This is a ferris wheel inside of a building (Toys R Us)

This is a blue whale (super duper big)

These are bears that tried to attack us (we got away, luckily).

This is Yankee Stadium (We watched them beat the Indians).

This is Nathan's Hot Dogs (where I will be watching the competitive hot dog eating contest)

This is part of the Coney Island Boardwalk

This is a Chinese Restuarant down the street

This is me and Iron Man!!! (at the Hershey's Store??)

This is a Peruvian Flute Band

This is Elmo. Life is tough on Sesame Street. He's resorted to begging for change.

Today I saw a bee (though I don't see many flowers) and it came right at me. I've never been stung, but for some reason I react strongly to their presence. I drew a picture to that describes it. (I also wanted to mess with the new version of MS Paint).

Character Design Final Project

We had to design 4 characters and have a background/motivations for each.

The Show

The characters that I have designed are to be the main characters of a television or internet cartoon program. The show takes place mostly in a library where two of the characters work, one lives, and one loves.  The show will be one that all ages can enjoy.  Everything will be very “cartoony”.  This is a world where anything can and does happen.  The show revolves around the four main characters working/living/hanging out in the library.

The Characters

Jack:  Jack is a man/boy (his age isn't known) who loves the library.  He sees Fat Cat as his very best friend.  He spends his days hanging out in the library reading books, comics, magazines; watching movies; surfing the web; and always talking to Fat Cat. He is a very curious person who isn't afraid to take risks.

Fat Cat: Fat Cat is a cat who works as a librarian in the library.  He runs the main/help desk.  He is one of the people in charge of checking out books for people.  His main responsibility is to help people find with library problems.  Fat Cat only speaks in meows.  When asked a question he meows and the person asking the question completely understands what he said.  Everyone in the show understands his meows.   The audience is the only one who will not know what he said without context clues from the other characters.  Fat Cat is best friends with Jack.  He tires of Jack easily, as Jack is always around.

Jean-Pierre:  Jean-Pierre is a depressed monster.  His parents are French so he has a slight french accent.  He is depressed because his wife left him for a scarier monster, he lost his job at the cheese processing plant to an automated assembly line, and he lost a word search competition that he had been training for his entire life.  He is easily startled, a “scaredy cat”, and somewhat frightened of Jack (though still his friend) because Jack is so full of energetic and a risk taker.  Jean-Pierre works in the library with Fat Cat as the “Media Re-shelving Technician/Janitor”.  Jean-Pierre is afraid of spiders.

Pider: Pider is a small spider who has made the library his home.  He is always hanging around Jean-Pierre as Jean-Pierre works, because the monster is always dusting away Pider's webs.  He hates Jean-Pierre for this and is constantly pulling books to upset the monster who has to put them all away.  Nobody ever sees Pider, so they don't know why things are always getting unorganized in the library.

We also had to do 56 sketchbook drawings. Here are some of mine.
