"Overheard at Webster"

I am now the "illustrator" for the school newspaper The Journal, which means I get a space in the paper to do any sort of illustration I want.  I am doing a three panel strip about students at Webster University.

The series is titled "Overheard at Webster"

Crazy Weekend

This Saturday was full of random surprises

1) Randomly finding a street fair when I get off of the subway. They had a lot of food vendors and jewelry, and hats, and sunglasses for sale at different tents. I had roasted corn and chicken kebab, which were delicious and cheap. Also there was a big line of expensive cars that drove by.

2) Found an Empanada Restaurant called "Empanada Mama" which was really good.

3) Found and ice cream shop near the empanada place that had donut ice cream sandwiches. It was ice cream in between two halves of a donut. Top dipped in chocolate sauce, and covered in mini m&ms. Delicious.

4) Found a free concert of some band that was older, so most of the crowd was much older than  we were. Sarah Capstick danced with some really crazy energetic old man fan. Here's a video:

On Sunday Sarah and I went to Red Hook Ballfields (found and suggested by Katie) which has Latin American food vendors every weekend.  We had Pupusas, Empanadas, and really good roasted corn covered in butter, cheese, and chili powder (or some red spice).

Also an amazing mural (see below)

Spongebob as a doctor doing dental work on Angelica from Rugrats.

Creepy sculptures in window in an area of town where we were very out of place.

This blog post is dedicated to Katie

New York and New Work

I've been doing a lot more art work just for fun lately.  Here are some of the things I have made.

Bear
(made in MS Paint Windows 7)

Benjamin the hippo
(made in Flash)

Sea Turtle
(made in Photoshop)

This is a looping animation I did one day while bored at work: http://www.themieshka.com/thing_guy.html

I've also been working on a freelance project designing characters for a TV show that is in development.
Here is the first character I designed.
"The Chief"

I designed a different character when I was first coming up with a style, but it turned out to not be exactly what they wanted. So I changed the style and the character I was working on. Here is the first one I came up with. I like it more.

I  did more exploring of New York, and got to see the Cardinals play the Mets at Citi Field.

More New York Adventures!

Hotdog Eating Contest was packed. I couldn't move from this spot for over two hours!

I saw two mullets in one day!

The Metropolitan Museum of Art consisted of more historical than modern art. Much better than the Museum of Modern Art. Also much easier to get lost.

Three layer Sarcophagus

Old and awesome looking piano. Has actual ivory keys.

They had a lot of full suits of armor. Even full suits of Samurai armor.

Awesome African mask

New Lego Store in Manhattan.

I just happened to be near the Nintendo Store where there was a launch party for a new game. This is one of the game's characters. I got a free t-shirt.

This is the TV in the NBC studio store. It has to be over 100 inches and it is not a projector.

Rat on the train tracks.

11 Second Club June Entry

Here is my 11 Second Club June entry:

I feel that I deserved a higher ranking than 70th but whatever. I like what I produced.
